Canada — SAGD, Oil Sands, Montney, Duvernay & Major Infrastructure

In Canada, I applied my drilling fluids, field service and real-time operations background to demanding Western Canadian operations, including SAGD wells, oil sands / bitumen environments, gas wells, long horizontal wells and field execution support.

  • SAGD and steam-assisted operations: exposure to wells related to steam injection and heavy oil recovery, where fluid control, wellbore stability and operational discipline are critical.
  • Western Canada gas and horizontal wells: experience supporting gas wells, long-reach horizontal sections and operations associated with major producing formations such as Montney.
  • Duvernay operations: supported Halliburton drilling fluids work on long horizontal section wells in a shale gas environment with multidisciplinary field teams.
  • Trans Mountain Expansion Project: worked as a Drilling Fluids Technician supporting fluid management, solids control and environmentally sensitive field execution for one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure projects.
  • Real-time drilling support: provided field support for directional and horizontal drilling operations, using sound judgement, data awareness and real-time operational follow-up.

Argentina — Unconventional Reservoirs, High-Pressure Wells & Shale Development

From 2014 to 2018, I worked in Argentina with Halliburton, gaining high-value exposure to unconventional reservoirs and technically demanding drilling programs in one of the world’s most important shale development regions.

  • Unconventional reservoir experience: participated in drilling fluids operations for shale and unconventional wells, where pressures, wellbore stability and fluid performance requirements differ significantly from conventional drilling.
  • Pre-fracturing drilling stage: supported the drilling phase prior to hydraulic fracturing, focusing on the quality, stability and performance of the wellbore before completion operations.
  • High-pressure operational environment: gained experience with wells requiring strong technical discipline, accurate fluid control and close coordination with drilling and field service teams.
  • Major international operators: supported operations connected to recognized companies such as Total, Shell, Chevron and Apache through service company assignments.
  • Technical learning curve: strengthened his ability to work with advanced drilling technologies, unconventional field conditions and complex operating expectations.

Colombia — Foundation in Drilling Fluids, Mature Fields & Field Supervision

Colombia was the starting point of my oil and gas career. Beginning around 2006, I built a strong foundation in drilling fluids, mature field operations, reservoir protection and field leadership with companies including Halliburton, Weatherford, Ismocol and Superior Energy Services.

  • Halliburton / Ecopetrol mature fields: worked on drilling fluids projects focused on reservoir protection, formation damage prevention and proper fluid selection to avoid damaging productive zones.
  • Specialized fluid testing: participated in technical testing and fluid evaluation for mature reservoirs where the client’s priority was protecting the producing formation.
  • Weatherford / Pacific Rubiales: advanced into field supervision for drilling fluids operations in Puerto Gaitán, Meta, supporting intensive field activity in a demanding operating environment.
  • Multi-rig supervision: supervised drilling fluids field activity across five drilling rigs, coordinating crews of approximately three people per rig and directing around 20 personnel across logistics, procedures, operations and project execution.
  • Operational leadership foundation: developed field judgement, contractor coordination, logistics control, client communication and practical leadership under real drilling conditions.
