Core Capabilities

International Operational Experience by Country

Colombia — Drilling Fluids Foundation, Mature Fields & Field Supervision

Colombia was the foundation of Carlos Tirado’s oil and gas career, where he developed strong technical experience in drilling fluids, reservoir protection and field execution. With Halliburton, he supported Ecopetrol mature field projects where the client’s priority was protecting the productive formation and reducing formation damage through proper fluid selection, specialized testing and disciplined field execution.

  • Worked on mature field drilling fluids projects focused on formation damage prevention and reservoir protection.
  • Supported specialized fluid testing and field control for sensitive productive zones.
  • With Weatherford, advanced into field supervision for drilling fluids operations connected to Pacific Rubiales in Puerto Gaitán, Meta.
  • Supervised drilling fluids activity across five drilling rigs and coordinated approximately 20 field personnel across logistics, procedures, operations and project execution.
  • Developed field judgment, contractor coordination, logistics control, client communication and practical leadership under real drilling conditions.

Argentina — Unconventional Reservoirs & High-Pressure Drilling Environment

From 2014 to 2018, Carlos worked in Argentina with Halliburton, gaining valuable exposure to unconventional reservoirs, shale development and technically demanding drilling programs. His work focused on the drilling stage prior to hydraulic fracturing, where wellbore quality, fluid performance, pressure management and operational discipline are critical to successful completion work.

  • Supported drilling fluids operations in one of the world’s most important unconventional reservoir regions.
  • Worked in an environment involving shale wells, high pressures and pre-fracturing drilling requirements.
  • Supported operations associated with recognized operators such as Total, Shell, Chevron and Apache through service company assignments.
  • Strengthened expertise in advanced drilling technologies, unconventional well conditions and complex field coordination.
  • Gained strong exposure to operational discipline required for unconventional well construction and high-pressure drilling environments.

Canada — SAGD, Oil Sands, Duvernay, Montney & Major Infrastructure

In Canada, Carlos has applied his experience from Colombia and Argentina to Western Canadian field operations, including SAGD wells, oil sands / bitumen environments, gas wells, long horizontal wells, Duvernay operations, Montney-related field exposure and the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

  • Exposure to SAGD wells related to steam injection and heavy oil recovery, where fluid control and wellbore stability are essential.
  • Experience with Western Canadian gas wells, long horizontal wells and formations such as Montney.
  • Supported Halliburton drilling fluids operations in Duvernay long horizontal section wells.
  • Worked on fluid management and solids control support for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in an environmentally sensitive infrastructure environment.
  • Provided real-time operational and survey support for directional and horizontal drilling operations in Alberta.
